fiona sent me this through e-mail the other day.
found it rather meaningful so i posted it here for you guys to read.
courtesy of fiona. enjoy~~

Lets say we take the world's population as 100%,

& read the statistics as follow:

50% are Asians; 20% are Europeans; 14% are Americans; 8% are Africans.

52% are females; 48% are males.

30% are Whites; 70% are Non-Whites.

30% are Christians; 70% are Non-Christians.

89% are straight; 11% are homosexuals & lesbians.

6% owns 89% of the world's wealth, and these 6% are from America.

80% are not surviving under good living conditions.

70% are illiterate; 50% suffer from malnutrition.

When 1% passes on, another 1% of births occur.

1% has computers; 1% (yes, only 1%) holds a University degree.

If we perceive the world in this perspective,

We would definitely be more positive in our daily lives.

Take the following into consideration:

If you could wake up this morning, feeling healthy and not having any illnesses, then you are more fortunate than a few million other people in the world; for they might not even be able to see the sunrise in the following week.

If you had never been through the tough times of war, the loneliness in jail, the agony of torture, or the starvation of hunger, then you have a much better environment than other 0.5 billion people in the world.

If you are able to walk into any places of worship (e.g. churches, temples etc.) without receiving any harassment or death threats, then you are much luckier than 3 billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes to wear, a roof over your head, and a bed to sleep, then you are much richer than 75% of the world's population.

If you have savings in your bank account, currency notes in your wallet, and shillings in your pockets, then you belong to the world's luckiest population (8%).

If you have both & healthy parents in your life with no family problems (e.g. divorce, single-parent, severing of ties etc.), then you belong to the rarest proportion of the world's population.

If you've just finished reading this letter, then you've just received a double blessing.

Because someone thought about you and sent you this letter,

& you are definitely not one of the 2 billion people in the world who are illiterate.

Have you ever realised how fortunate you are?

Please do pass this on to someone whom you would like to share this to.

Peace. V
